'In the best interest of the Child' is a determining factor in the Texas Family Courts; however, I have yet to find ANYONE who can give an actual definition of what that may be.
In the best interest of the Child appears to be a catch-all phrase meaning whatever the judge wants it to be regardless of what is truly in the best interest of the child.
Many parents are rewarded for being irresponsible, or deadbeat dad's, or in some cases when parental rights should be terminated they are instead of following the legal statutes for abandonment in Texas are rewarded by receiving a slap on the wrist and visitation.
